Alien Western

According to Muse Entertainment James Marsters will star in Alien Western, "a sci-fi television film about giant, vicious, alien bugs that come to earth to gorge themselves on the uranium deposits found in the ground of an Old West town". James plays Sam Danville, an outlaw who is about to be hanged when the aliens land. Sam leads a small group of survivors who fight the creatures. Principal photography began this week in Romania.
Sounds like fun. :)

Oooooh shiny!

Did you see 'Slither'? Sci-fi can be LOTS of fun. :)

Nope, I haven't watched Slithers - but I will definitely watch Alien Western. I remember I loved Starship Troopers - loved its campy sensibility, its cynical approach to humankind. I believe it was the first movie where I noticed Neil Patrick Harris.

There is something that draws together sci-fi and westerns. I entertain the idea that producers invited JM as a Joss actor - as a homage to Firefly and Serenity. I hope Alien Western will turn out to be a funny little movie.

Oh you must! I mean, not just because of Nathan Fillion, it's a genuinely fun movie - like the best B movie ever! :) (I loved Starship Troopers too. V. excellent.)

*nods* I think it's that whole frontier thing. And, of course, everyone loves cowboys.

(PS I posted fic the other day, if you missed it? Or maybe you're just rushed off your feet like me... *drags self back to RL*)

Oh, if you say it's good, I will watch it. Thanks for the tip!

Oh. *hungs head in shame* I can't believe I missed it! My f-list grows out of control.

Thanks for pointing in the right direction. Now I know where I will spend my time the rest of the evening! :)

Thanks for the tip!
My pleasure. It's like the perfect popcorn movie - fun and entertaining and with *really* gross aliens! :)

Tell me about it! I have not read a single seasonal_spuffy story. *is sad*

I have not read a single seasonal_spuffy story.

Pity. There are exceptional entries in this round. Hope you'll be able to catch it up when you finish your Buffy/Immortal fic.

*claps hands* Yay! Sounds fun indeed. And that's some fine art there, ma'am. He looks like he's not going to take any sass from those aliens. :D

Tentacles are my contribution! I suppose right now nobody knows how these "bugs" will look like, CGI and all. We can allow ourselves a poetic licence and imagine them as Illyria's descendants! :)

Now I want to reread some AU Spuffy fics in which Buffy and Spike find themselves on Wild West. :)))

Amazing work, darling. You've captured the mood of the movie really well, I think, even if we don't know what the bugs will look like!

I'm going to watch no matter what, but I just hope he looks as good as this. Very nice work. 8 ]

Thanks!

I used a season 3 promo pic as a face base, so he looks very young, even after running the pic though several filters. I hope that James will look that great in the movie...

That is very well done! Love the lettering. What filter did you use? Charcoal? Posterize? I know I recognize it, but I can't remember which one it is. It's perfect, whatever it is. It makes everything look dry and gritty, just like the west.

Saved for my "My Pictures" screensaver. :-)

[identity profile] moscow-watcher.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I used the font "cowboys" and used ctrl+t for "Alien Western" to make the letters elongated. I used "poster edges" filter for the image (filters-artistic-poster edges), medium thickness, intensity and posterization (4-6).

I tried to make it look like an old faded poster but didn't quite achieve it.
