About Bander: to me one of the most indicative elements is the overall looks. I still remember watching season 6 promos and seeing Spike with curling hair and without nail polish and going "yay! They're finally going there!" Because he was styled as a romantic hero. The same here with Xander. Artists could easily make him look as a comical sidekick, but they draw him as a handsome, muscular and sexy man. Besides, I remember reading a fan report from a convention: Jane Espenson said that during school seasons Joss planned to end Buffy with Xander. And - IMHO - eighth season's vibe is very similar to early seasons.

Oh, yes! Empty movie theater, empty cans of "Campbell's soup" - how poignant and ironic is that? Movie theater as a last resort, a place where people used to consume other people's dreams and nighmares... Love this panel to bits.
Angel ones are so hooked up on details they can barely get the story started...
If only they could publish an issue every week... :)
