I still consider BtVS canon closed. Joss is writing fanfic now. I was a bit more tolerant of continuity errors on the show, because occasionally the characters went in different directions than planned and I don't mind minor retcons, but I find it impossible to consider as 'canon' Warren's non-death in which Amy miraculously whisked him out of the way and kept him alive. If The First hadn't already been retconned (in Amends, The First seemed to be able to touch things and people) and such a big deal hadn't been made in S7 that The First was non-corporeal and wasn't able to touch and could only take on the aspects of dead people, I might have been able to buy the Warren retcon. But Warren appeared as The First in at least three episodes, so based on S7 canon, Warren was dead. Ergo, "S8" cannot be a continuation of show canon.
