As for S/B - no, I don't think Joss'll hook them up, but I still hope for a closure. At least for the resolution of "does she know he's alive" thing.
...while I hope for the absence of closure. That's what stimulates me to read and write fanfiction and I'm afraid that closure will quench my thirst.
In my happy place Spike ends up with Dru anyway, after he shares his (or Angel's) shanshue with her. ;)
That's the advantage of not having closure: your Spike is with Dru, my Spike is with Buffy, other people see him with Angel, Xander, Wesley, Illyria...
But there's something wistful and melancholy about it, that Buffy is still, deep down, lonely and lost after everything, and that's enough to get me hooked. A wee little bit of angst right from the start.
A wee little bit indeed... because I don't see her lost. As to lonely - I think Joss is conditioning her for Bander romance. :)
