You're right. At least, it's Joss' fence-sitting that fuels fanfiction and fanart. I doubt that I'd be in the fandom that long if Joss resolved the triangle in *any* way. Wish fulfillment kills the wish. But I can't make myself care about the characters because of the mystery of their relationship.
