In issue 3 Giles is trying to find out about Twilight symbol when he speaks with a demon. I doubt it was an act.
He could be acting for those demons' sake. And we saw Twilight employing demons as well. Hi might be checking how much those demons know. But I'm reaching here, it's just a speculation. Anything is possible.
