I always had the impression that Joss exploits feminism, liberalism and other "-isms" as long as they suit his narrative tasks. He's not a politician, he's a storyteller.
I dare to say your impression is incorrect, and probably based on insufficient data. Have you read his posts on RL women exploitation on Whedonesque? Have you heard of Equality Now? Have you seen him speak for that cause, for Equality Now etc.? There are clips on YuoTube. Those are not stories, there are no stories to fit those posts or those public speeches and campains. Those are his convictions, and seriously, if you watched the man speak for those causes you wouldn't be able to draw a conclusion like yours. He's very passionate about it, and pretty active politically on that front. Also do you keep track on WGA strike? Joss is one of the most active guys there. He is a politically-minded guy and wants to be involved.
