I think that in BSG case genre protection is immense. If these dilemmas were explored by the example of Americans and Iraqis, critics would have made mincemeat of the show and its creators.
Let me explain it differently. Reread my previous comment, the part about cavemen and astronauts. Then substitute "cavemen" for "terrorists" and "astronauts" for "liberals". See the difference? As long as we talk about cavemen and astronauts, it's theoretical. As soon as we start talking about terrorists and liberals, it's a powder-keg.
