I think the first issue highlights the advantages as well as limitations of a comics as medium. The advantage is obvious - writer doesn't have to worry about the budget, he may have castles, temples, helicopter landings, giant craters etc. The limitation is less obvious. It's the loss of subtlety. The line on sex proves it. Joss tries to decorate it with additional meaning with ostensibly funny "great muppety Odin" preamble to make it stand out, but people still read "sex" as sex, pure and simple. Maybe SMG could fill the line with some special inflections that would suggest that she thinks of Spike. But without the actor's participation the word remains just the word.
So I'm preparing myself for a funny cheesy entertainment. It's quite a relief - to follow characters' adventures without worrying to death about their fates. :)
