Actually, I think, by keeping it open Joss keeps the interest pretty high - and he'll be teasing fans forever. Although, of course, nobody will get anything from Joss.
I'm glad Buffy's not pining for Spike. It's been a year, after all.
The first issue gave me the impression that nobody will be pining for anybody in comics. It's all about action and funny quips, not about sadness.
And she's so gonna end up with Xander. ;-)

I think Amy's just going to be around for the first arc.
Maybe. Then again, there is too many juicy details for a three-issue arc (a boyfriend who needs a lab, a desire to kill Buffy (why Buffy? why not Willow?) rat aftereffects...
I'm sure Joss has stories in mind for all the main characters; they all have to have a role in the new organization after all. Dawn's going to be giant for a while, for example.
